SERVICES
- Ultrasound
Ultrasound is used for procedures in
obstetrics, gynecology and cardiology. Ultrasound imaging relies on
the computer-assisted processing of sound waves to develop images
of internal organs and the vascular system.
How The Test Is Performed
You will be placed on the exam table and a warmed gel will be applied
over the area to be scanned. The technologist will then place a device
that sends harmless sound waves over the area to be imaged. For some
procedures special probes are used to provide images with even greater
detail.
Inform The Technologist If:
You are pregnant or nursing your baby.
Time Allotment:
Please allow 1 hour for this exam.
After Your Exam:
You can resume normal activities after your exam.
Test Results:
Please do not call RAP for your test results. They will be delivered
to your doctor approximately 72 hours after your exam. If immediate
attention is required, your report will be faxed or called into
your doctor.
Patient Education:
We realize that diagnostic testing makes many patients anxious.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions about the exam process or
anything else that will make your experience at RAP more comfortable.
