The following is only a partial listing of available services that
Radiology Associates of Poughkeepsie, PLLC. (RAP) performs. If you
were referred for an exam not listed below, please call for more

MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging
as it is referred to, is a patient examination utilizing a magnetic
field and radio waves to produce a highly accurate view of the inside
of any portion of your body. It is painless and extremely safe because
no radiation is used.

CT scan or "CAT" scan
as it is referred to stands for the computerized tomography, which
refers to the way this exam is performed. In actuality, a CT scan
is an x-ray procedure enhanced by a computer. This results in a
three-dimensonal view (referred to as a "slice") of a
particular part of your body.

Breast Imaging or Mammography
as it is referred to, is a safe, low-dose x-ray procedure that films
the internal tissues of your breasts. Mammograms are a simple exam,
performed as a standard diagnostic study, to determine the possibility
of irregularities within the breast. They can reveal areas too small
or deep to feel which may or may not require further investigation.

Bone Densitometry is testing that
assesses a persons bone density. By using a test called "DEXA
scan," the patient is examined for osteoporosis, a disease
that causes bones to become more porous, gradually making them weaker
and more brittle.

Ultrasound is used for procedures
in obstetrics, gynecology and cardiology. Ultrasound imaging relies
on the computer-assisted processing of sound waves to develop images
of internal organs and the vascular system.

GI Series x-rays provide a study
of the esophagus (tube from the mouth to stomach), stomach, and
part of the small intestine.

Myelography is the
term applied to radiologic examinations of the central nervous structures
within the spinal canal. Myelography’s main application today is
to demonstrate herniated intervertebral discs.

IVP is a series of x-rays
