SERVICES - IVP
IVP is used for procedures in obstetrics,
gynecology and cardiology. Ultrasound imaging relies on the computer-assisted
processing of sound waves to develop images of internal organs and
the vascular system.
The Procedure:
An I.V.P. is a series of x-rays of the abdomen which examines the
function and anatomy of the kidneys, ureters and bladder.
How The Test Is Performed
You will be placed on an x-ray table, and the technologist will
inject a “contrast media” into a vein in your arm. This contrast
is taken up by the kidneys and excreted down the ureters and into
the bladder.
Inform The Technologist If:
• You are pregnant.
• You have iodine allergies.
• You are diabetic.
Time Allotment:
Please allow 1˝ hours for this exam.
After Your Exam:
You can resume normal activities after your exam. You should drink
4 - 6 extra glasses of liquid throughout the day.
Test Results:
Please do not call Tower for your test results. They will be delivered
to your doctor approximately 72 hours after your exam. If immediate
attention is required, your report will be faxed or called into
your doctor.
Patient Education:
We realize that diagnostic testing makes many patients anxious.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions about the exam process or
anything else that will make your experience at Tower more comfortable.
Preparation:
In order to help your physician get the best possible test results,
it is very important that your colon be thoroughly cleaned out before
your exam. You need to get PREP KIT from your doctor’s office or
from Tower at least 48 hours prior to your exam. It is very important
that you follow all of the directions in the prep kit. Prep instructions
vary with each patient’s physician. Do not hesitate to call us if
you have any questions.
NOTE: If you have iodine, food, asthma, or hay fever allergies -
you must alert the Tower staff. You may need to be pre-medicated
24 hours prior to your exam - or you may not be able to receive
the contrast injection

Mammography is a safe, “low dose” x-ray examination of the breasts
which can detect breast cancer at an early stage. The American Cancer
Society now states that one out of every eight women in the U.S.
will develop breast cancer. Presently, mammography is considered
the best method to detect abnormalities in the breast. Early detection
is the most effective weapon women have against breast cancer.
